Privacy and safety
Careful by default.
Schools hold sensitive information. The way I work is designed to need none of it.
- No student names or identifiable records in demonstrations. I use invented examples and say so.
- No autonomous contact with students or families. Technology drafts, people decide and send.
- Human approval before anything is published outside the school.
- Clear handling of any school information: it is only used for the agreed purpose and is not shared.
- A review of any third-party tool before it is suggested, and a privacy impact assessment if a system needs personal information.
- Case studies and testimonials only with the school's written approval.
This approach is designed with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 in mind.
